Dr. Inderjit Kaur is the only woman who has been selected to be part of the 21-member Religious Advisory Board (RAB) created by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee known to many Sikhs as the "Sikh Parliament".. According to a report published in The Tribune, the RAB would frame rules for the appointment and removal of Sikh Jathedars at the primary Takhts in India. This Board would also examine complaints received by the Akal Takht before they are taken up by the Sikh clergy. |

Dr. Inderjit Kaur, also known as Bibiji, is the Bhai Sahiba Chief Minister for Sikh Dharma of the Western Hemisphere (Western Sikh movement). She is a highly regarded teacher and author, as well as an active international voice to protect the grace and dignity of women around the world. “I feel very honored to be on the committee,” said Dr. Inderjit Kaur. “And I pray to Guru Ram Das to give me the strength to serve the Akal Takht, our Supreme Authority, and the Sikh Panth, itself.” |

According to The Tribune, the RAB had been constituted on the directives of the Akal Takht Jathedar and the decision was taken unanimously at a Dharm Parchar Committee (DPC) meeting held at Gurdwara Fatehgarh recently. The RAB will be discussing pending issues, it will be able to initiate talks with other Panthic organizations to resolve various Panthic matters and it would send its recommendations to the DPC and the SGPC.
